As the anticipation for the total solar eclipse on April 8th, 2024, continues to build, Delta Air Lines has elevated the experience by offering a unique flight tracking the eclipse’s path. The special flight from Austin, Texas, to Detroit, Michigan, promises a mesmerizing aerial perspective of this celestial event.
The Airbus A220-300, selected for its expansive windows, will depart from Austin at 12:15 pm Central Time and land in Detroit at 4:20 pm Eastern Time. Passengers on this extraordinary journey will witness the total eclipse unfold through the aircraft’s specially chosen windows.
Eric Beck, Managing Director of Domestic Network Planning for Delta Airlines, expressed the collaborative effort behind this exceptional flight, stating, “Thanks to teams across the company, the idea of viewing a total eclipse from the air will become a reality for our customers.”
The demand for this celestial experience was evident as the dedicated eclipse flight sold out on Delta.com within 24 hours. However, hope remains for eclipse enthusiasts, as five other Delta flights are still available, offering prime eclipse-viewing opportunities on April 8th.
While these flights provide a unique chance to witness the eclipse, passengers are reminded to use protective viewing glasses for a safe and awe-inspiring experience.
