Delhi: 8-year-old in ICU after brutally gang raped

New Delhi: An eight-year-old girl was gang-raped by two juveniles in the New Usmanpur area of North East Delhi on Monday. Police apprehended the two, aged 11 and 12, in connection with the crime. The girl sustained serious injuries and is currently in ICU.

According to Delhi Police, the victim went out to play when one of the accused lured her to his home on the pretext of playing. He and his friend allegedly raped her there. After the girl returned to her house, she complained of severe stomach pain, and her parents found that she was injured and bleeding profusely. She was rushed to the hospital where she is in ICU and is undergoing treatment, police added.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) sent a notice to the police seeking immediate action against the accused.

“The commission received information on the 181 Women Helpline that an 8-year-old was gang-raped in the Shastri Park area of Delhi on January 24, 2022. The Commission was informed that the survivor went outside her house at around 4 pm and when she returned, she complained of severe stomach ache and her private parts were badly injured. The girl was bleeding profusely,” the DCW statement said.
