New Delhi, As Delhi gears up for Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s swearing-in ceremony, the city remains on high alert with stringent security arrangements put in place. Officials from the Delhi Police have announced a multi-layered security setup, including the deployment of paramilitary personnel, NSG commandos, drones, and snipers, to ensure the safety of the event at Rashtrapati Bhawan.
With dignitaries from SAARC nations set to attend the ceremony, security measures are expected to be on par with those implemented during the G20 summit last year. Designated routes have been arranged for the dignitaries from their hotels to the venue and back, with snipers and armed police personnel stationed along these routes. Drones will also be deployed at strategic locations across the national capital.
Hotels hosting the visiting dignitaries, such as Leela, Taj, ITC Maurya, Claridges, and Oberoi, have been brought under heightened security cover. Advanced technologies like Artificial Intelligence and facial recognition will be utilized for scanning, while commandoes from Delhi Police’s SWAT and NSG will be deployed around Rashtrapati Bhawan and other strategic points.
The event itself, scheduled to take place inside Rashtrapati Bhawan, will witness a three-layered security arrangement both inside and outside the premises. Around 2500 police personnel, along with paramilitary and Delhi Armed Police jawans, will be deployed around the venue to ensure a smooth and secure ceremony.
In anticipation of the event, traffic diversions and heightened checkings at Delhi’s borders have been planned. Leaders from neighboring countries, including Sri Lanka, Maldives, Seychelles, Bangladesh, Mauritius, Nepal, and Bhutan, have been invited to the ceremony, followed by a banquet hosted by President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhawan.
In a gesture of inclusivity, special invitees for the ceremony include laborers, railway staff, transgenders, sanitation workers, beneficiaries of government schemes, and Viksit Bharat ambassadors, highlighting the diverse representation expected at the historic event.
