A half-day workshop today to build capacity among urban leaders in Indian cities

The LCM envisions empowering 5,000 professionals, including middle to junior government officials and senior staff, and prepares them to fight for climate change and mitigation solutions in a concerted effort to fulfill India’s climate obligations. The launch also marked the success of the Department of Housing and Urban Affairs in terms of India’s climate objectives.In conjunction with World Environment Day celebrated on June 5, the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) and the World Resources Institute (WRI) India, have jointly announced ‘Leaders in Climate Change Management’ (LCM), a vision-based learning. program today.

 It aims to build capacity among urban experts to lead climate action in all sectors and areas of India. To facilitate this face-to-face learning program, the Administrative Training Institute (ATI), Mysuru, also sang the three-part Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NIUA and WRI India, becoming the first delivery partner of the programLCM.The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, unveiled a seminar and seminar workshop for half a day today to build capacity among climate leaders in Indian cities.

At COP26 last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposed a five-fold plan – PanchAmrit – to world leaders, to extend India’s cooperation to meet the target of 1.5 degrees Celsius. The LCM program, designed and implemented in partnership with the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and the Indian School of Business (ISB), aims to empower Indian workers to achieve this goal.

Plan aims to sign similar MoUs and ATIs

LCM is a mixed learning program for urban workers who want to develop skills and prepare themselves to deliver effective action action. The program consists of four phases: phase one – an online learning module that can be completed within eight weeks; the following include face-to-face intervals of four to six days; phase three authorizes participants to complete the project in six to eight months and to visit exposure tours; and the final phase involves networking and establishing a community of familiarity.

Online learning will be hosted on the National Urban Learning Platform (NULP), the NIUA Skills Development Unit. It will also be hosted and supported by ATI, Mysuru. The plan aims to sign similar MoUs and ATIs throughout India in the next few months.MrPuri also launched the Climate Data Observatory 2.0 website, Product Information for Public Spaces, Urban Outcomes Framework 2022 – Data Collection Site, and Citizens’ Urban Transport Compendium, to celebrate another milestone achieved by NIUA in the urban environment. The winners of the National Climate Photography award and the Stage One cities that qualified for the Transport 4All Innovation Challenge were also announced.
