CSIR Implements In-House Developed Software for Financial Management

In a remarkable display of efficiency and innovation, the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has set a precedent for financial management among Central autonomous institutions with the successful implementation of its in-house developed ‘Accounts Manager Software’ (AMS).

On 1st April 2024, CSIR achieved a significant milestone by generating its Annual accounts for the financial year 2023-24 well ahead of the General Financial Rules (GFR) deadline of 30th June. These accounts have been promptly submitted to the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG).

The ‘Accounts Manager Software’ boasts an intuitive interface, designed for seamless usability. Users can effortlessly input, track, and manage financial data, while the software generates comprehensive reports, including balance sheets, income & expenditure statements, and other pertinent analytics. This empowers CSIR with actionable insights for informed decision-making, all while ensuring data security through role-based access.

A notable feature of the software is its real-time monitoring capability, enabling users to oversee financial activities as they unfold. This facilitates timely intervention and enhances decision-making processes.

Developed by an in-house team comprising Shri S.P. Singh, Sr. Dy. FA, Shri Arvind Khanna, FAO, and Ms. Akansha Trehan, Technical Officer, the AMS software has been implemented across CSIR Headquarters and its 37 National Labs nationwide under the mentorship of Dr. N. Kalaiselvi, DG, CSIR/Secretary, DSIR, and the leadership of Shri Chetan Prakash Jain, Joint Secretary & Financial Adviser, CSIR/DSIR.

This software revolutionizes financial management within CSIR, streamlining transactions, accounting, and reporting processes with unparalleled efficiency. It ensures transparency and accuracy in every financial process, standardizing practices and enhancing control across all CSIR labs. By ushering in a new era of financial management, the AMS software embodies CSIR’s commitment to excellence and innovation in all aspects of its operations.
