The Supreme Court on Friday agreed to hear on July 11 a request by Chief Whip Shiv Sena Sunil Prabhu to suspend a meeting between Maharashtra Prime Minister Eknath Shinde and 15 rebel MPs who are yet to oppose their opposition.
A holiday bench comprising Justice Surya Kant and J B Pardiwala was urged by attorney general Kapil Sibal that the application needed an urgent hearing due to the decision on the withdrawal of 16 lawyers including the prime minister.
The bench agreed to hear the new application on July 11. On June 29, the Supreme Court refused to suspend Maharashtra Governor Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) ‘s order to test Parliament. Thursday to confirm its plurality after frustrated minister Uddhav Thackeray resigned.
