Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, during the launch of an awareness campaign for the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP) in Baran district, expressed confidence in his party’s prospects in the upcoming Rajasthan Assembly polls and its potential to influence the 2024 general elections at the national level.
Kharge referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent speeches in which he mentioned a “red diary” containing records of financial irregularities in the Rajasthan government led by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. According to Kharge, the red diary predicts that the Congress will regain power in Rajasthan after the upcoming Assembly polls.
With unwavering confidence, Kharge stated, “If the Congress government is formed in Rajasthan, the party will come to power at the Centre in 2024.”
Kharge also highlighted the BJP’s performance in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, where they secured 25 MPs from Rajasthan. Despite this, he noted that the BJP had not delivered on promises to bring funds and water to the state.
Addressing the Congress’s demand for a nationwide caste census, Kharge accused the BJP of attempting to divide people along religious and caste lines. He argued that it is the BJP’s customary approach to engage in divisive politics based on religion and caste.
The upcoming Rajasthan Assembly elections, scheduled for November 25, will have a significant impact on the state’s political landscape. The results will be announced on December 3, shaping the future of governance in Rajasthan. Mallikarjun Kharge’s optimism reflects the Congress party’s determination to secure power in both the state and the central government.
