A Committee of Senior Directors / Chief Executive Officer was formed at the Department of Railways to review the Establishment of existing Railway Engineers Territorial Army Regiments in Jamalpur, Jhansi, Kota, Adra, Chandigarh and Secunderabad. The Committee reviewed the operational requirements of the Railway TA Regiments.On the basis of the recommendations of the above Committee and the concurrence of the Minister of Defense and the Director-General of the Defense Forces, the Department of Defense.
The railways decided as follows: –
• Disbandment of five Railway Engineers Territorial Army officers based in Jhansi, Kota, Adra, Chandigarh and Secunderabad.
- Maintenance of the single Railway Engineers Regiment (TA) located in Jamalpur on the role of working on the New Jalpaiguri-Siliguri-Newmal-Alipurduar-Rangiya (361Kms) route to connect the key rail link to the Siliguri tunnel to Rangiya as proposed by the Department of Health. Self-defense.
The disbandment process will be completed by the Directorate General Territorial Army within nine months from the date of issue of the Department of Railways dated 03.06.2022 and similar procedures will be implemented by DGTA in consultation with the Department of Transport.
