Launch of the Manthan platform which aims to foster collaboration between industry and the scientific R&D ecosystem

Office of the Principal Scientific Advisor (PSA) to the Government of India (GoI); mandated with the vision to enable and empower all spheres of science and technology in the country, announced the launch of the Manthan platform, which aims to foster collaboration at scale between industry and the scientific R&D ecosystem to help meet India’s sustainability goals in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Charter defined by the UN.

 The launch commemorates 75 years of India’s Independence – Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav and represents an opportunity to bring the national and global communities closer to India’s technological revolution. Led by PSA, Manthan has the potential to change the landscape of science and technology-based innovation and social impact solutions in India. The platform will facilitate knowledge transfer and interaction through information exchange sessions, exhibitions and events to create a framework for future growth based on science, innovation and technology.

Powered by NSEIT, this platform will allow for increased interactions between stakeholders, facilitating research and innovation and sharing challenges in various emerging technologies and scientific interventions, including those with social impact.Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood, Chief Scientific Advisor to the Government of India, shared his views on the announcement: “The Government of India is committed to putting the country at the forefront of scientific and technological advancements for real-world applications. The launch of the Manthan platform, which promises to expand our efforts to build and support industry participation in R&D, is also a testament to our commitment to the UN SDGs. I take this opportunity to congratulate the co-funders, knowledge partners, industry representatives and my team who have contributed to the development of this platform.”

“The Manthan platform is unique and will provide the necessary fulcrum to transform our nation through innovative ideas, inventive minds and the collaboration of the public, private and academic worlds to achieve our sustainability goals. I would like to congratulate everyone who participated in the birth of a technology platform for the tech-inspired,” said Dr. Parvinder Maini, Scientific Secretary, Office of the Chief Scientific Adviser, Government of India.

“For a nation to prosper, the Serve and Perform platform is essential. The Manthan platform provides the necessary impetus to foster large-scale collaboration between demand-side and supply-side users, helping ideas to flourish, technology to grow communities and deliver results that can catapult the nation to many more glorious chapters,” said Dr. Sapna Poti, Director – Strategic Alliances, Office of the Chief Scientific Adviser, Government of India.

I congratulate the vision outlined by the Honorable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi for Digital India and Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat and commend the PSA Office and its partners for building an ingenious and innovative platform that is ready for the world,” said Ashishkumar. Chauhan, MD & CEO, National Stock Exchange of India Limited.Speaking at the launch event of the platform, Mr. Anantharaman Sreenivasan, MD & CEO, NSEIT, said that Manthan will help new concepts, science-based ideas and new technological outcomes find faster adoption across the country. “As a trusted knowledge and technology partner, we at NSEIT are excited to be associated with the Office of PSA and congratulate them on this prestigious initiative,” he added.
