Inauguration of Sensitization cum Review Workshop – National Clean Air Programme (NCAP)

Aspire, ‘Jan Bhagidari“It’s time to make ‘Clean Air For All” Efforts to improve air quality have shown positive trends in achieving better air quality in cities across the country. But if we want to achieve what we want, With  the participatory regime holds the key. ” This was stated by the Minister of Environment, Forestry and Climate Change, Shri Bhupender Yadav in Chennai today during the launch of the Sensitization cum Review Workshop – National Clean Air Program (NCAP) and the XV-FC Million Plus Cities Challenge Fund (XV (FC MPCCF) Southern region including Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, Kerala, Andaman & Nicobar, Lakshadweep, Pondicherry, Daman and Diu as well as Dadar and Nagar Haveli.

Meyyanathan, Secretary of the Department of Environmental Affairs and Climate Change, SmtLeenaNandan, Executive Secretary, Department of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry, Tamil Nadu Government SmtSupriyaSahu, Additional Secretary, Department of Forestry and Climate Change, -Shri Naresh Pal Gangwar participated in the opening ceremony of the 2-day regional workshop organized by the Department of Environment, Forestry and Climate Change.

Air pollution

Speaking at the event Minister Shri Bhupender Yadav thanked the government for saying Chennai, Madurai and Trichy, air quality of 3 million cities and National Ambient Air Quality Standards. He also commended the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board for the first step in the E-Commute program, in which all board officials take office every Wednesday with petrol vehicles.At another stage of the transformation, he asserted that India had exceeded the BS-VI standard and that the adoption of its petrol and automotive systems was one of the landmark policies in the fight against air pollution.

Youth to be active workers in the campaign to improve the quality of life

“Under the NCAP, 132 inaccessible cities have been identified nationally based on Air Quality data from 2014-2018. The list is a diverse mix of cities of all sizes and types and in southern India we have 13 such cities from Andhra Pradesh and 4 each from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Telangana ”, he added.ShriBhupender Yadav recalled the Prime Minister’s commitment to ensuring clean air for all by improving air quality in about 100 cities through a comprehensive approach.

The Minister urged the youth to be active workers in the campaign to improve the quality of life by pursuing sustainable livelihoods, ethics and attitudes and being agents of change in society. He expressed confidence that through co-operation, co-operation, participation and the concerted efforts of all stakeholders, the NCAP’s objectives to address the issue of air pollution in a comprehensive manner will be achieved.
