In a video speech at the Forum on U.S.-China Relations in Hong Kong, China’s ambassador to the United States, Xie Feng, expressed optimism about the recent positive signs in Sino-US relations. Acknowledging the leadership of China’s President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Joe Biden, Xie highlighted the joint efforts that have contributed to a more stable relationship.
Despite these positive developments, Xie emphasized that Sino-U.S. relations still face significant challenges, and there is a long road ahead to stabilize and improve the ties between the two nations. He stressed the importance of finding the right way for China and the United States to coexist harmoniously.
Xie revealed that both sides recognize the benefits and necessity of maintaining dialogue, expressing the hope that Sino-U.S. relations will further stabilize and improve. Anticipation is building for an upcoming summit in San Francisco, where both leaders, Xi and Biden, are expected to meet on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum starting November 15.
The meeting comes almost a year after their last encounter on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Bali, where they discussed various global issues such as trade, national security, and Taiwan. As the diplomatic stage is set for a crucial summit, the world watches with keen interest to see how the leaders navigate the complex landscape of Sino-U.S. relations in the coming days.
