Study lead author Antonio Salas, a distinguished professor at the University of Santiago de Compostela, lauded ChatGPT’s capabilities, stating, “Overall, ChatGPT constructs a narrative in line with the available scientific evidence, debunking myths circulating on social media.” He emphasized that the AI’s language strikes a balance between accessibility and scientific rigor, making it comprehensible to the general public.
While the researchers acknowledge that ChatGPT cannot replace the expertise of human experts or scientific evidence, they assert that it has the potential to be a trusted source of information for the public.
