There are seven continents in the world, one of them is Antarctica. This is the coldest place on earth. There is another such place named Arctic, it is also considered one of the coldest places. Today we are introducing you to these cool places about which people often get confused.
What is the difference between these two poles:
whether it is about the temperature or the vegetation found or the animals, we are telling all this here. The biggest difference between Arctic and Antarctica is that they are two poles of the world which are opposite to each other. Where the Arctic is an ocean surrounded by land and it is surrounded by six countries Canada, United States, Denmark, Russia, Norway and Iceland. So the same Antarctica is a continent, which is surrounded with sea and ice rocks and it is common to see the highest snow mountain of more than 16,000 feet in the continent of Antarctica.
The area around the Earth’s North Pole is called the Arctic, while the area around the South Pole is called the Antarctic.
In this way, both these places are located in opposite directions to each other. But still this is the similarity, the same climate prevails in both the places. Where Antarctica is located to the south of the equator, the Arctic is located to the north of the equator.
Now let’s talk about the forest trees and plants found here, in fact, plants are not only found in Antarctica, in a way very few are found. There are grasses and a good variety of alpine plant species, as well as many species of lichens (about 400), many species of liverworts and about 100 species of mosses. Most plants are found in the tundra in the Arctic region. And there are about 1,700 different plant species such as sedges, grasses, mosses, liverworts, besides a small flora of alpine type flowering plants.
let’s talk about what animals are found here
Reindeer, musk ox, arctic hare, arctic tern, snowy owl, squirrel, arctic fox, polar bear, walrus, seal and whale and narwhal are found in the arctic. There are 235 different species of animals found on Antarctica, including penguins, whales, seals, albatrosses, and other seabirds. Apart from this, krill are also found in the Antarctic, which are called the foundation of the food chain.
If you look at the temperature of these two regions, the Arctic which is the North Pole and the Antarctica which is the South Pole, then the South Pole i.e. Antarctica is colder than the North Pole. According to NASA data, the average temperature of the North Pole during summer reaches 0°C while the average temperature of the South Pole reaches -28.2°C.
