Union Home Minister Amit Shah will meet the family of slain Punjabi rapper and politician Sidhu Moose Wala at the Chandigarh HQ Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The killing of Moose Wala – who was shot dead in his car in the Mansa district of Punjab – has caused shock across the country.
Police said the killings were linked to gangs and were investigating the role of arrested gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and Canadian-based gangster GoldyBrar in his assassination. On Friday, Punjab Prime Minister Bhagwant Mann – who has been widely criticized for tightening security measures provided by government to Sidhu Moose Wala the day before his shooting – met with the singer’s family. Earlier, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema and Minister of Rural Development Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal also visited Moses Wala’s home.
The 28-year-old singer became famous for his catchy songs that often target rival rapists and politicians while portraying him as a man who fights for the pride of his community.Apart from India, Sidhu Moose Wala also has a large following abroad, especially in Canada and Britain – home to the great Punjab communities.Also on Friday, police arrested two men – both of them linked to the criminal Lawrence Bishnoi – of Fatehabad in Haryana. They were arrested on a different charge.
