Union Home Minister Amit Shah: India Enters an ‘Amrit Kaal’ of Unprecedented Growth

India is experiencing a new surge of energy and optimism following recent milestones, including hosting the G20 Presidency, the Chandrayaan 3 moon landing, and the advancement of the women’s reservation bill, stated Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday.

Speaking at the 118th Annual Session of the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), under the theme ‘Rising India: “Yahi Samay Hai, Sahi Samay Hai Amrit Kaal of Unprecedented Growth,” Shah shared the sense of vitality and dynamism that currently defines the country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has articulated a vision for India to become the number one nation in all sectors by the time the country celebrates its 100th year of independence in 2047. Shah noted that this vision marks the beginning of what he called the “Amrit Kaal” or the golden age of India’s development.

PM Modi previously expressed optimism about India’s transformation into a developed nation by 2047, attributing the nation’s economic growth to political stability.

Highlighting India’s strengths, Shah emphasized the nation’s abundant youth population, a significant number of doctors, engineers, and technocrats, the presence of democracy, and a collaborative spirit. He underscored the pivotal role played by organizations like PHDCCI in realizing India’s potential and ambitions.

Shah also provided insights into the accomplishments of the BJP-led government at the Centre over the past nine years, presenting comparative data. India has risen from the 11th rank in 2014 to the 5th rank among the world’s largest economies.

He cited the impressive growth of unicorn startups, from four in 2014 to 115 at present, and the remarkable increase in digital transactions, which surged from 127 crore to 12,735 crore since 2014. Shah noted that India has become a highly attractive destination for investment, with substantial growth in capital expenditure, the expansion of airport infrastructure, and the development of road networks.

Shah also revealed the government’s commitment to connecting all eight capitals of the northeastern states through road, rail, and air by 2027.

Discussing India’s digital transformation, he recounted an anecdote of a diplomat in Jaipur during the G20 event who marveled at a street vendor accepting digital payments through a Paytm scanner, highlighting the remarkable progress in digital adoption.

Regarding the New Education Policy introduced by the Modi-led government, Shah expressed confidence that it would position India as a preferred education hub in the next decade.

He urged industry leaders to seize the opportunity to expand and contribute to India’s growth, underscoring the strong foundation laid by PM Modi through initiatives such as Skill India, Make In India, Digital India, and Udaan Yojana, among others. Shah concluded with an appeal to harness the present moment for the benefit of the nation.
