The PM will launch WHO Global Center for Traditional Medicine in Jamanagar

Today, the Ayush Department and the Gujarat Government are organizing a curtain press conference to discuss important developments in the field of traditional medicine in India – a landmark event for the WHO Global Center for Traditional Medicine (GCTM) and the Global Ayush Investment and Innovation Summit (GAIIS). Both events are being held in Gujarat and will be attended by the presence of the Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of Mauritius Shri PravindJugnauth and the Director-General of WHO, Dr. TedrosGhebreyesus. There will be plenty of ambassadors to celebrate both events.

The WHO aims to harness the power of traditional medicine

The WHO Global Center for Traditional Medicine, the first of its kind in the world, will open on April 19, 2022, in Jamnagar. The institute aims to harness the power of traditional medicine, by integrating it with technological advances and evidence-based research. While Jamnagar will serve as a base, the new Center aims to engage and acquire land. The GCTM will focus on four key areas: evidence and learning; data and statistics; sustainability and equity; and innovation and technology to enhance the contribution of traditional medicine to global health.

Investment and Innovation Summit

The Global Ayush Investment and Innovation Summit will be held from April 20 to April 22, 2022, in Gandhinagar. The Summit aims to increase investment and innovate in the field of traditional medicine. A unique effort to promote long-term cooperation, increase exports and develop a sustainable ecosystem.

Said the Minister of Trade Unions

Commenting on upcoming events, Shri SarbanandaSonawal, Ayush Trade Union Minister, said, “Both events will mark a milestone in India’s Ayush industry. The Global Ayush Investment and Innovation Summit presents India with the opportunity to create a global market for Ayurvedic and herbal products. We stand at the door of the golden age, where we can use our traditional knowledge, and use it to serve the world. ” He added, “The Global Center for Traditional Medicine represents the unique commitment of WHO and India to global healthcare.

GCTM seeks to establish policies and standards on traditional medicine products and to help countries build a comprehensive, safe, and quality health system. The Global Ayush Investment and Innovation Summit is a stepping stone to India’s efforts to become a global hub for traditional products, practices, and related services.
