US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held a meeting in Washington DC to discuss a wide range of issues, as confirmed by the US State Department spokesperson Mathew Miller.
The discussion covered various important topics, including the outcomes of India’s G20 presidency. They also explored the development of the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor, emphasizing its potential to generate transparent, sustainable, and high-standard infrastructure investments.
Cooperation between the two nations was a central theme of the meeting, especially concerning the upcoming 2+2 Dialogue. They stressed the significance of collaboration in the fields of defense, space, and clean energy.
This meeting followed up on the successful visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the United States in June, during which several significant agreements and discussions occurred.
Notably, the recent allegations made by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau regarding a potential link between the Indian government and the killing of pro-Khalistan separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar were not specifically mentioned. Instead, the conversation focused on fostering cooperation between India and Canada while being cautious about jumping to conclusions.
In addition to bilateral issues, the two leaders exchanged thoughts on global developments during their meeting.
The meeting exemplified the ongoing efforts of both countries to enhance their bilateral relationship and address critical regional and global challenges.
