A new mass grave of Ukrainian civilians was found on Saturday in Buzova, a liberated town near the capital Kyiv that had for weeks been lined with Russian troops, a local official said.TarasDidych, head of the Dmytrivka community that includes Buzova and a few other nearby villages, told Ukrainian television that the bodies were found in a pit near a petrol station. The death toll is yet to be determined.
“Now, we are back to life, but during our stay we have ‘our hot spots’, many residents died,” Didych said.
As Russian forces invaded Kyiv in the first weeks of the Moscow invasion, several communities around the capital, including Makariv, Bucha, Irpin, and Dmytrivka, were constantly on the move.Ukrainian local media in early April reported the injured people found in and around Buzova, with about 30 bodies found at the time.
With most of the towns and villages around Kyiv now rehabilitated, the discovery of more cemeteries and civilian casualties has caused a wave of international condemnation, especially in the wake of the massacre in the city of Bucha, northwest of the capital.On Saturday, Ukrainian President VolodymyrZelensky said that although the Kyiv threat was over, Ukraine was preparing for a tough battle with Russian troops gathering in the east of the country. Ukrainian officials have called on people in the east of the country to flee.
