Kashmiri Pandits and devotees gathered at Mata Kheer Bhavani Temple on the occasion of Jyestha Ashtami

Free bus service was conducted from Srinagar Airport, Tourist Reception Center, Dal Lake Side Nehru Park, Shankaracharya Temple, Shivpora, Bibi Cantt, Indira Nagar etc. places where Hindu communities live in large numbers.

The Prime Minister in his tweet said, “Happy Jyestha Ashtami to all, especially the sisters and brothers of Kashmiri Pandit. We pray to Mata KheerBhavani for everyone’s well-being and success.”

The UnionMinister of Home Affairs and Cooperative, Shri Amit Shah also congratulated the Kashmiri Pandits on Jyeshtha Ashtami and said that Jyeshtha Ashtami is a special ceremony to worship MaaKheerBhavani. In this sacred ceremony, I extend my greetings to all our brothers and sisters in Kashmiri Pandit and pray for the progress and prosperity of the country by bowing at the feet of MaaKheer Bhavani.

Lieutenant Governor, Shri Manoj Sinha conveyed his warm greetings to the Kashmiri Pandit community. He said “this is a very special event to celebrate religious life, love, compassion and understanding. Let us pray to Mata Kheer Bhavani to guide us on the path of righteousness and bring peace, happiness and prosperity to our country.

At the beautiful Jyeshtha Ashtami ceremony, about 18,000 Kashmiri Pandits and devotees visited the famous Mata Kheer Bhavani Temple. Every year, on this beautiful day, Kheer Bhavani Mela is organized at the Mata KheerBhavani Temple in Tulmulla, Ganderbal and devotees from various parts of Jammu and Kashmir visit the sanctuary here.

Kheer Bhavani is considered to be the god of the Kashmiri Pandits, who are widely recognized there. Jyeshtha Ashtami has great religious significance for our brothers and sisters in Kashmiri Pandit. Over the years, Kheer Bhawani Mela has become a symbol of community unity and brotherhood in Kashmir. Detailed security arrangements were made for the event, which was overseen by Lt. Governor Shri Manoj Sinha himself. About 2,500 250 Kashmiri Pandit volunteers participated in the evening aarti. The religious sanctity of the Mata Kheer Bhavani Temple, built on a sacred fountain, has special spiritual significance among devotees at Kashmir Pandit worldwide.
