RJD Unveils Manifesto for Lok Sabha Elections: 7 Key Promises by Tejashwi Yadav

Tejashwi Yadav, leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), recently unveiled the party’s manifesto for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Titled ‘Parivartan Patra,’ the manifesto outlines 24 promises aimed at the development of Bihar. Yadav presented the manifesto in the presence of senior RJD leaders, emphasizing the party’s commitment to Bihar’s progress.

“Our sole objective is Bihar’s development… We have presented our pledges to the public, seeking their blessings. We are confident that the INDIA alliance government will be formed in Bihar,” stated Tejashwi Yadav.

Here are the key announcements from the RJD manifesto:

Employment Generation: The manifesto pledges to tackle unemployment by providing jobs to one crore youth across the country, starting from August 15.

Discontinuation of Agniveer Scheme: The manifesto proposes to discontinue the Agniveer scheme.

Financial Support for Women: A promise to provide ₹1 lakh annually to women from economically weaker households on Raksha Bandhan.

Infrastructure Development: Plans to construct five new airports in Bihar for improved connectivity. The airports will be located in Purnea, Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur, Gopalganj, and Raxaul.

Subsidized Gas Cylinders: Commitment to provide gas cylinders at ₹500 to every household.

Old Pension Scheme Implementation: The manifesto advocates for the implementation of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) in Bihar.

Special Status for Bihar: A pledge to grant special status to Bihar.

The Lok Sabha elections will be conducted in seven phases, beginning from April 19 and concluding on June 1, with vote counting scheduled for June 4. In the 2019 elections, the BJP-led NDA secured a significant victory in Bihar, winning 39 out of the total 40 seats. This year, Bihar is expected to witness a closely contested battle between the NDA alliance and the RJD, particularly following Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s return to the NDA alliance earlier this year, departing from the ‘Mahagathbandhan’ alliance.
