Suryakumar Yadav to Lead Indian Cricket Team in T20I Series Against Australia

Suryakumar Yadav will lead the Indian cricket team in the upcoming five-match T20I series against Australia, commencing just days after Australia secured their sixth World Cup title by defeating India in the final. Ruturaj Gaikwad will serve as Suryakumar Yadav’s deputy for the first three T20Is, while Shreyas Iyer will join the squad as vice-captain for the last two matches in Raipur and Bengaluru.

The decision to appoint Suryakumar Yadav as captain follows the absence of Hardik Pandya, who sustained an ankle injury during the Cricket World Cup. The injury is expected to keep Pandya out for at least two more months, leading to his absence from the upcoming T20I series against Australia and potentially the subsequent series in South Africa.

The full squad for the T20I series against Australia includes:

•Suryakumar Yadav (Captain)

•Ruturaj Gaikwad (Vice-captain for the first three T20Is)

•Ishan Kishan

•Yashasvi Jaiswal

•Shivam Dubey

•Ravi Bishnoi

•Arshdeep Singh

•Prasidh Krishna

•Avesh Khan

•Shreyas Iyer (Vice-captain for the last two T20Is in Raipur and Bengaluru)
