Smart Cities, Smart Urbanization ‘Conference opens in Surat, with 100 Smart Cities joining from across the country

The 3-day conference on “Smart Cities, Smart Urbanization” had a great opening in Surat today. The event is being organized by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (MoHUA), the Government of India and Surat Smart City Corporation Development Ltd., under the clear request of AmadiAmritMahotsav (AKAM), presented by the Honorable Prime Minister celebrating 75 years of Freedom.

State-Based Regional Agencies / Mechanical Director’s Office, experts, industry representatives, media, and academic members also attended the event, highlighting some of the key initiatives starting at 100 Smart Cities.

Awards ceremony

The awards ceremony was organized, during the opening ceremony where the winners of the India Smart Cities Awards Contest (ISAC) 2020 were celebrated. The awards were announced earlier by a special conference in 2021. However, the awards ceremony was postponed due to the existing state of COVID-19 at the time. Surat and Indore were awarded the Best City award, while Uttar Pradesh was awarded the Best Province

2022 Urban Outcomes Framework

The event also highlighted the release of Urban Outcomes Framework 2022 which includes, ‘Ease of Living’, ‘Municipal Performance Indicator’, ‘Data Maturity and ClimateSmart Cities Assessment Framework. The Department’s integrated database of AMPLIFI, which will provide important information about Indian cities, was also launched. In addition, Smart Cities Mission also unveiled a complete dashboard with the Outcome Output Management Framework (OOMF) dashboard on GMIS during the event.

Smart Cities Smart Urbanization

The opening day of the ‘Smart Cities Smart Urbanization’ mega conclave showcased a variety of collaborative activities, planned interactions with outstanding speakers and learning in all 5 themes. Rethinking Social Spaces, Digital Governance, ClimateSmart Cities, Innovation and Smart Finance, for more than 1000+ participants nationwide. The dignitaries visited five of the most iconic venues in the area. The five themes showcased a variety of city-based development projects in Smart Cities.

The Smart Cities Mission was launched by Shri Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India on June 25, 2015. It has been part of the visionary agenda for urban renewal and is designed as part of a multi-platform strategy to meet 40 aspirations. % Of the Indian population living in cities.

Announcements during the Conference

 Opening of ‘AmaroPadosh’

The Smart Cities Mission and Surat Municipal Corporation have created a temporary facility, equivalent to 30,000 square meters of living space in the SIECC area with public facilities such as a park, anganwadi, community health center, municipal school, bus station with bicycle stand, restaurant, EV charging station. , and a craft store. The goal is to provide an opportunity to ‘learn from experience’ of event attendees. The site is built on a weekly basis by a combination of professionals with experience in town planning and design, architecture, landscape design, traffic studies and civil engineering.

Innovation Bazaar Pavilion

Raising the call of the Honorable Prime Minister to strengthen the cities of India, the Innovation Program at Smart Cities Mission took drastic measures to close the gap between smart cities and startups. The Innovation Bazaar forum at the conference showcased high-level solutions to urban challenges, as well as a wide range of dynamic activities of new urban ideas. Several starters advertised their products in the tent.

Climate Smart Cities Pavilion

Cafe, the forum, is an information platform that hosts 7 side clinics, 4 interactive providers, interactive games, interactive data wall, photo gallery and much more. The forum promises 2 days of key events with city leaders and local changers in a consultative, repetitive, action-based format.

Launch of ‘Visual Urban Transformation Hub

In order to solve the complex challenges of cities, cities need to work together in all governments, industries, academia and civil society – nationally and internationally. The Smart Cities Mission and the World Economic Forum have joined hands to establish a ‘visible platform for working with urban reform’. The center will utilize emerging technologies and innovations to transform Indian cities into centers of sustainable, inclusive and sustainable growth.

Digital Governance Pavilion

The ‘Digital World’ forum was opened at the Smart Cities Smart Urbanization Conference to highlight programs that empower communities with data and digital technology. Efforts made by 100 smart cities have been demonstrated in building a strong ecosystem that provides ICT interventions. This pavilion introduced data initiation and some initial knowledge of smart solutions used / developed by 100 smart cities. Forums and sessions were organized to reflect the benefits gained in digital governance

Introducing the Urban Outcomes Framework 2022

SCM is a Transformation Task aimed at bringing about change in the way urban development in the country. Of the total proposed projects under SCM, 7,905 projects costing R1,93,143 crore (94% in value) have been awarded to date, work orders issued for 7,692 projects costing approximately R1,80,508 crore (88% in value). 3,830 projects costing ₹ 60,919 crore (33% value) are also fully completed and operational (10 April 2022).

Smart Cities Mission

For ₹ 2,05,018 crore investment under the Smart Cities Mission, projects worth R93,552 crore are proposed to be developed by the Center and District Fund. About 100% of these government-funded projects, namely, projects worth R92,300 crore have been commissionedPercentage of use for the full GOI.
