The fourth phase of sea trials for the IAC was successfully completed on 10 July 22, during which integrated tests of most of the equipment and systems on board, including some of the equipment of the aviation equipment complex, were carried out. The delivery of the ship is targeted at the end of July 22, followed by the commissioning of the ship on August 22 to commemorate “Azadika Amrit Mahotsav”.
The indigenous design and construction of the Aircraft Carrier by the Indian Navy and Cochin Shipyard Ltd is a shining example in the nation’s efforts towards ‘Aatma Nirbhar Bharat’ and the ‘Make in India Initiative’ with more than 76% indigenous content. This has led to the growth of domestic engineering and construction capabilities, in addition to the development of a large number of ancillary industries, with employment opportunities for over 2,000 CSL employees and about 12,000 employees in ancillary industries.
The IAC’s Maiden Sea Trials were successfully completed on 21 August. This was followed by the second and third stages of the Sea Trials on 21 October and 22 January. During these three phases of the Sea Trials, endurance tests were carried out on propulsion machinery, electrical and electronic equipment, on-board machinery, life-saving equipment, ship’s navigation and communication systems.
