The much-awaited Ram Mandir in Ayodhya opened its doors to a massive gathering of devotees eager to offer prayers. Following the ‘pran pratishtha’ ceremony of Ram Lalla, the first morning after the consecration witnessed a surge of devotees seeking darshan of the newly consecrated idol. Prime Minister Narendra Modi officiated the main rituals during the consecration ceremony, marking a historic moment in Ayodhya.
Devotee Crowds and Darshan Timings
Devotees began congregating since the early hours, with large crowds forming as early as 3 am to catch a glimpse of the revered idol. The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra website provided specific time slots for devotees to seek darshan – morning slot from 7 am to 11:30 am and afternoon slot from 2 pm to 7 pm. ‘Aarti’ timings, including jagran/shringar at 6:30 am and sandhya aarti at 7:30 pm, added to the spiritual atmosphere.
Devotees had the opportunity to obtain passes for the ‘aarti,’ both offline and online. Offline passes were available at the camp office at Shri Ram Janmbhoomi, requiring a valid government identity proof. The ceremonial journey leading up to the grand opening involved a seven-day ritual that commenced on January 16, attracting participants from various walks of life and tribal communities.
Architectural Marvel of Ram Mandir
Constructed in the traditional Nagara style, Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Mandir stands as an architectural marvel. With dimensions of 380 feet (east-west) and 250 feet (width), the temple rises 161 feet above the ground. Adorned with 392 pillars and 44 doors, the temple’s pillars and walls showcase intricate sculpted depictions of Hindu deities, Gods, and Goddesses. The sanctum sanctorum houses the idol of the child-like Lord Ram.
The ‘pran pratishtha’ ceremony held at 12:29 pm on Monday marked a historic occasion, attended by representatives of various tribal communities and leaders from major spiritual and religious sects. The inauguration ceremony officiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi added to the unbridled celebrations, solidifying the significance of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
