Chennai, December 12, 2023, The legendary Superstar Rajinikanth, who has been an icon in Indian cinema for decades, turns another year older today. While age may be catching up with him in real life, on the silver screen, he continues to be the unbeatable and irreplaceable Rajini for his countless fans.

Known for his trademark punch dialogues, one of which is “En vazhi, thani vazhi! (My way is my own),” Rajinikanth has been an influential figure in the Indian film industry. Many from the 90s era grew up imitating his stylish mannerisms, breaking sunglasses in the hope of emulating the superstar someday.

Bollywood superstars are also among his ardent admirers, with Aamir Khan expressing his respect for the iconic actor. In an interesting revelation, it was disclosed that Aamir Khan was approached for the lead role in Shankar’s 2.0, the sequel to the hit film Robo. Aamir, however, turned down the role, not due to script concerns, but out of reverence for Rajinikanth. He believed that no one else could portray the character of Vaseegaran and Chitti better than Rajini, stating, “It was not a tough decision to turn it down because I am his fan.”

Amitabh Bachchan, who shared the screen with Rajinikanth in the 1991 film Hum, spoke fondly of the South Indian superstar at IFFI 2019 in Goa. He expressed, “I think of Rajinikanth ji as a member of my family. We stay in touch and often talk. Sometimes he asks me for advice and vice versa.” Despite their exchanges of advice, Amitabh humorously remarked that neither of them seemed to follow the given counsel. He added, “Thank you, Rajini, for being with me. You’re an incredible source of inspiration.”

Even Hrithik Roshan, who shared the screen with Rajinikanth in the 1986 film Bhagwaan Dada, reminisced about his experience working with the megastar. Recalling the time when he was a child actor, Hrithik shared, “I used to say whatever I wanted to him as if he was my friend while shooting for Bhagwaan Dada. He was very gracious back then because he forgave a lot of things I did or said.”

As Superstar Rajinikanth adds another year to his illustrious career, fans and colleagues alike continue to celebrate the indomitable spirit of the icon who has left an indelible mark on Indian cinema. Happy Birthday, Thalaivar!
