NLC India Wins 810 MW Solar Project in Rajasthan: A Solar Milestone

NLC India Limited, a prominent player in the energy sector and a Navratna Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSE) under the Ministry of Coal, has achieved a remarkable feat by securing an 810 MW Solar PV project in Rajasthan. This significant achievement comes as a result of winning the bid from Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Nigam Limited (RRVUNL). Let’s delve into the key highlights and unique aspects of this noteworthy endeavor:

This venture is nothing short of monumental. NLC India Limited successfully clinched the entire 810 MW capacity from RRVUNL, highlighting its dedication to clean and sustainable energy solutions. The project will be nestled within RRVUNL’s 2000 MW Ultra Mega Solar Park, located in Pugal Tehsil, Bikaner District, Rajasthan. The strategic location leverages the abundant solar potential of the region.

Streamlined Development & Pioneering Renewable Energy

An exceptional aspect of this project is the support provided by RVUNL. They will furnish the land and the power evacuation system linked to the State Transmission Utility (STU). This collaborative approach streamlines project development and expedites timelines.

This marks the largest renewable energy project undertaken by NLC India Limited. With this addition, the total power project capacity in Rajasthan will reach an impressive 1.36 GW, of which 1.1 GW is dedicated to green power.

Environmental Impact & Vision for the Future

Rajasthan’s favorable solar conditions ensure a higher Capacity Utilization Factor (CUF), resulting in the generation of over 50 billion units of green power. This substantial production offsets more than 50,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions throughout the project’s operational life.

NLC India Limited is actively involved in renewable energy projects across India. In addition to this 810 MW project, the company is engaged in various solar initiatives, including a 50 MW solar project on mined-out land, a 200 MW solar project under the Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) scheme, a 300 MW solar project under the CPSU scheme at Barsingsar in Bikaner District, and a substantial 600 MW solar project at Khavda Solar Project in Bhuj District, Gujarat.

Under the leadership of Mr. Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, CMD of NLC India Limited, the company is committed to renewable energy expansion. Their goal is to achieve over 6 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, aligning with the ambitious renewable energy targets set by the Government of India.

This significant win not only underscores NLC India Limited’s dedication to a greener future but also strengthens India’s position as a leader in the global renewable energy landscape. It’s a remarkable milestone on the path to a sustainable and eco-conscious future.
