Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday confirmed that Canadian gangster Goldy Brar, the mastermind behind the murder of singer and politician Sidhu Moosewal, has been arrested in California, United States. “There is a confirmed news this morning. As head of state, I am telling you that the big gangster sitting in Canada, Goldy Brar, has been arrested in America,” Mann told a press conference in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
“This gangster culture in Punjab will end soon. They are sitting outside (in the country) and that’s why we have to go through the channel.” We recently got Interpol through the Home Office to issue a red corner notice against Goly Brar. We have learned that he has been detained and will soon be extradited to India. He is behind major murder cases and will be given the harshest punishment under the law,” he added. In June, Interpol issued a notice against Goldy Brar, a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, after the Punjab Police sent a request to Interpol through the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The global arrest warrant allows 194 member countries to track down and arrest a suspect on their territory. earlier reported that Satinderjit Singh alias Goldy Brar, who claimed responsibility for killing Moose Wala in May, was arrested in California. Indian agencies have not yet received confirmation of the detention and were trying to get details about it, people familiar with the development said. The National Investigation Agency (NIA), the official said, will liaise with the US authorities through official channels to get more details and see if it would be possible to proceed with Brar’s deportation directly to India.
