New Delhi: Priyanka Chopra global icon, and Bollywood star, recently featured in a heartwarming HSBC advertisement, where she shared her deep love for Indian cuisine. Taking to Instagram, Priyanka expressed how nothing evokes the feeling of home more than the familiar flavors of Indian food.
In her post, Priyanka wrote, “Nothing reminds us of home more than food, especially when you’re living abroad… our favorite meal and flavors intertwined with our core memories!” The video captures her speaking passionately about her culinary roots and the nostalgic connection to Indian food.
In the ad, Priyanka says, “I was born in India. I live in America now. I’m a big foodie, food lover. Food is so important for community because it brings people together like nothing else. You move across the world, it’s the food that brings you back to that safety net, it’s the food that makes you feel like you belong to a community.”
The advertisement also features Priyanka interacting with a chef, discussing the delicious dishes he will prepare for three diaspora couples. One of the participants humorously reminds Priyanka of her nickname, Piggy Chops, as they share stories and laughter over steaming hot desi food.
Priyanka also reminisces about the comforting taste of home-cooked parathas, particularly those made by her grandmother. “Ever since I moved, the one thing that I feel is a sudden craving for a specific Indian food. My grandmother used to make this thing called ghum parathas, for the ghee hidden inside her parathas. I think parathas I just associate with family. I associate with Sunday mornings,” she shared.
Coincidentally, just hours before, Priyanka posted a picture of a bowl of palak curry topped with cream and a paratha made by her mother, Madhu Chopra. Captioning the photo, she wrote, “When you come home to mom after a long day’s shoot,” accompanied by a heart eyes emoji.
Fans of Priyanka reacted warmly to the ad, with many calling her a ‘desi girl’ at heart. One fan commented, “Oh desi girl .. we miss you in India.” Another added, “@priyankachopra this is so warm and eloquently presented- speaks for all of us who have left India and try to retreat our memories through food.” Many others echoed similar sentiments, filling the comments with heart emojis and ‘desi girl’ remarks.
Priyanka Chopra continues to be a beloved figure both in India and abroad, and she will soon be seen in upcoming films “The Bluff” and “Heads of State.”
