Nitish Kumar’s Political Shift Sparks Outrage Among Opposition Leaders

In a surprising turn of events, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar‘s decision to exit the ‘mahagathbandhan’ and join hands with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has triggered strong reactions from opposition leaders across the political spectrum.

Nationalist Congress Party veteran Sharad Pawar expressed astonishment at Kumar’s move, questioning the sudden change of heart that led him to abandon the opposition alliance. Pawar emphasized that while Kumar had played a crucial role in forming the opposition bloc to challenge the BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the public would not forget his actions.

Pawar’s sentiments were echoed by other opposition leaders, who condemned Kumar’s decision as a betrayal of the alliance and accused him of succumbing to political opportunism. Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh criticized Kumar’s move as a diversionary tactic to detract from the opposition’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, asserting that the people of Bihar would not forgive him for his actions.

The Trinamool Congress characterized Kumar as a politician known for his frequent political somersaults, while warning that the public would respond to such opportunism. Opposition leaders like Tejashwi Yadav of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) described Kumar as a respectable but tired leader, cautioning the BJP that he was unlikely to share credit with allies.

Meanwhile, the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation accused Kumar of being a pawn of the RSS-BJP combine, suggesting that his allegiance to the BJP would lead to the demise of his party in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav condemned Kumar’s actions as a record betrayal, predicting a strong public backlash against the BJP alliance in the elections.

Amidst the chorus of condemnation, AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi criticized the JD(U), RJD, and BJP for betraying the people of Bihar, emphasizing the failure of these parties to uphold their political promises and ideologies.

As opposition leaders unite in denouncing Kumar’s defection, the political landscape in Bihar remains tumultuous, with implications for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
