Nick Jonas, affectionately dubbed as ‘National Jiju‘ by his Indian fans, was greeted with enthusiastic cheers and chants as he joined his brothers Joe and Kevin Jonas on stage at the Lollapalooza Mumbai concert on Saturday. The trio, known as the Jonas Brothers band, delivered an electrifying performance, captivating the audience with a medley of their hit songs.
Kevin Jonas playfully introduced Nick as ‘Jiju’ to the crowd, sparking loud cheers and chants of ‘jiju jiju’. Nick, in turn, affectionately referred to Kevin as ‘bade papa’, possibly a nickname from his daughter Malti Marie. As the crowd erupted in laughter and applause, Nick expressed his gratitude, saying, “I love you all so much, thank you.”
Adding a touch of Bollywood flair to the performance, Nick delighted fans by singing a portion of the song “Maan Meri Jaan x Afterlife” in Hindi. The atmosphere was set ablaze with excitement as the brothers delivered an energetic set, including favorites like “Celebrate,” “Sucker,” and “Jealous.”
Addressing the audience, Nick spoke about the special connection his family shares with India, acknowledging the warm reception with gratitude. “Thank you for having us, and we will make this the most exciting night ever,” he declared, as chants of “jiju, jiju” echoed through the venue.
Among the attendees was actor Taapsee Pannu, who shared her excitement on Instagram, captioning a video of Nick’s performance with “Jijaji stage pe hain” (Jijaji is on stage).
As the festival unfolded with performances by renowned artists like Halsey and The Raghu Dixit Project, Nick Jonas expressed his appreciation for the incredible crowd, promising to return for another memorable performance.
The two-day extravaganza culminated with a performance by legendary musician Sting, leaving music aficionados buzzing with excitement and anticipation for future editions of Lollapalooza.
