Nitin Gadkari urged scientists to conduct rural agricultural research by adopting futuristic vision on needs

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has urged scientists to conduct rural and agricultural research by adopting a futuristic vision based on needs, regionally as well as technology, research and entrepreneurship to make the country and society prosperous.

He was speaking as the chief guest at a seminar on Women in Science and Entrepreneurship-WISE-2023 organized by Indian Women Scientist Association, Nagpur branch at National Environment Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) Hall, Nagpur today. Many dignitaries including NEERI Director Dr. were present on the occasion. Atula Vaidyi, retired Dean of Nagpur Medical College, Dr. Vibhavari Dani.

He informed that Punjab and Haryana in North India are also producing bio-bitumen along with rice and wheat and agriculture is diversifying into energy and electricity. He also informed that the waste material from garment units at Butibori MIDC is being used to make durable and beautiful carpets at Pachgaon in Umred and training is being imparted to 1200 women. He emphasized that by adding value to this type of raw material and with a nice design and attractive packaging, it is possible to apply it to the global market.

Nitin Gadkari said that the construction was limited by the use of technology and informed that it is possible to build a bridge for just Rs. 1000 crore instead of Rs. 1600 crores by using Malaysian technology and reducing the distance between the two pillars of the flyover and casting the girder in steel fibers, which was done on the Indora Dighori Bridge, the foundation stone laying ceremony of which was conducted recently. He specifically pointed out the savings or Rs. 600 million crowns on this occasion.
