Maharashtra Congress president Nana Patole on Sunday met Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray in connection with the INDIA opposition bloc meeting in Mumbai on 31 August and 1 September.
He also said that the issue of confusion in the ranks of Maha Vikas Aghadi was discussed in connection with the meeting of Nationalist Congress Party founder Sharad Pawar and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in Pune on Saturday.
“The people of Maharashtra see us as one and there should be no confusion among the workers. Maha Vikas Aghadi is united and everyone’s stand should be clarified as soon as possible,” Patole told reporters. Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP are part of MVA.
Earlier in the day, when asked about his “secret” meeting in Pune with Ajit Pawar on Saturday, the NCP founder said, “I want to tell you the fact that he is my nephew. What’s wrong with meeting your nephew? If a senior person in the family is eager to meet another family member, there should be no problem.” The NCP president and the deputy CM are believed to have met at the businessman’s residence.
Visuals aired by regional news channels showed Sharad Pawar arriving at the businessman’s residence in the Koregaon Park area around 1 pm. He left around 5:00 p.m. After nearly two hours, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar was seen leaving the campus in a car at 6:45 pm, apparently trying to avoid the cameras.
Ajit Pawar and eight MLAs joined the Eknath Shinde government, which also has the Bharatiya Janata Party, on July 2, causing a vertical split in the NCP.
Meanwhile, talking about the 18 deaths at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in Kalwa, Patole said that if this was the situation in the civic facility in Thane, then one can imagine the state of affairs in other parts.
