Shamshera movie is clearly not boring or confusing & Presented as a period drama

I am a fan of Ranbir Kapoor, but not a die-hard fan who would choose to willingly follow Roy till the end. However, this was not the case with Shamshera. The movie is clearly not boring or confusing like Roy. In fact, it falls very much into the category of Jagga Jasoos, which I loved despite trying to survive for a long time. Shamshera, which is gaining more and more viewers, is neither that long nor does it have a story that is too complex to unravel. Imagine Ranbir chasing a train in the desert, beating up a handful of armed guards and running away on his horse with a queen’s crown, aka Hrithik Roshan style in Dhoom 2. Karan Malhotra’s film is fun to watch and has a decent story with a clear character arc for Ranbir Kapoor.

Presented as a period drama, Shamshera is a far cry from the Sanjay Leela Bhansali epics we are used to and has a script closer to what we saw in Thugs of Hindostan. Fortunately, it is much better than Thugs of Hindostan which still collected ₹150 crore in India. By that standard, Shamshera was worth more than just one-third of what Aamir Khan’s film claimed at the box office. Like Thugs of Hindostan, Shamshera has a pre-independence period setting, interesting action sequences and Vaani Kapoor dance numbers reminiscent of Katrina Kaif numbers. But unlike Thugs, Shamsher’s story has a clear beginning and end and never leaves the audience confused.

Ranbir also brings his charm to the story. His fun dance song Ji Huzoor reminds us of Jagga Jasoos’ Galti Se Mistake with its witty and creative choreography. Mostly set in the muddy fictional town of Kaza, Shamshera is not as real or serious as Abhishek Choubey’s underrated film Sonchiriya, which was set in the muddy gorges of Chambal and perfected the accuracy of the dialects and language of the region. . Whether dealing with oppression and torture in a fort or pillaging a city with his gang, Ranbir’s Bali prefers creative freedom with fictional depiction and stunning cinematography over factual accuracy, which may bother critics but not the public. Complain that you are too fictional, but it has everything to make you delay your bathroom break, otherwise you miss catching up with the story.

Yes, the romantic song Fitoor with Vaani and Ranbir was too unrealistic and out of place, but the underwater scenes again make you ignore logic and enjoy the visuals. Shamsher’s title music is what holds the film and the audience together. Crows are also added when the title song plays at key points and has a strong impact on the overall mood of the film.

As a viewer, after hearing a lot of negative opinions about the movie, I was worried that the movie would end up being a mess in the next few minutes, but it never actually happened. It’s pretty clear how much hard work went into making the film and it justifies why Sanjay Dutt had to write a letter after the film failed at the box office to highlight why it didn’t deserve the hate it got.

Sanjay actually shot for the film when he was battling cancer and the way he portrayed the role of Shudh Singh is nothing like Agneepath’s Kancha Cheena but more fun and interesting. One thing I also liked about Shamshera was how the film showed for the first time a corrupt Indian like Shudh Singh, trashing not only his countrymen but also British officers for his own gain. Apart from the unexpected climactic scene that proves this, there are scenes where a British officer asks Shudh Singh not to kill people mindlessly and to be less brutal.

Shamshera is everything a Ranbir fan would love to watch after missing him on screen for four years and I guarantee it will not disappoint at all. As Sanjay said, “Shamshera” will find his tribe one day,” I can assure him that I am part of that tribe and there are more like me.
