Government Initiatives Propel Growth in Medical Education and Healthcare Infrastructure: Dr Jitendra Singh

In a recent address, Dr Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State for Science & Technology, highlighted the government’s commitment to making medical education more accessible and affordable. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, significant strides have been made, including a 79% increase in MBBS seats and a 93% rise in MD seats over the past 9 years.
Dr Jitendra Singh noted a remarkable increase in the number of MBBS and MD seats, rising by 79% and 93%, respectively. The government’s focus on expanding medical education aims to eliminate disparities, ensuring deserving candidates are not at a disadvantage.
Government Medical Colleges and AIIMS Multiply
From 145 government medical colleges in 2014, India now boasts 260 such institutions, a testament to the government’s commitment to enhancing healthcare infrastructure. Additionally, the number of AIIMS (All India Institutes of Medical Sciences) has grown to 23, marking substantial progress over 9 years.
Dr Jitendra Singh highlighted India’s transformation into a global leader in protective healthcare, attributing this success to the nation’s vaccination program. The Minister acknowledged the Prime Minister for dismantling outdated regulations, fostering an enabling environment, and promoting India as a serious healthcare provider.
During the event, Dr Jitendra Singh proposed the incorporation of telemedicine provisions in SBI-donated buses, inspired by the ‘Doctors on Wheels’ concept. He emphasized the need for an integrated health management protocol to enhance medical services in remote areas, showcasing the government’s commitment to innovative healthcare solutions.
Dr Jitendra Singh engaged with students and faculty at AIIMS, Jammu, offering insights on excelling in the medical field. The discussion covered topics such as artificial intelligence, quantum therapies, and the integration of clinical medicine with deep technology for optimal outcomes.
Handbook of Policies, Guidelines, and Procedures
On the occasion, Dr Jitendra Singh released a book titled “Handbook of Policies, Guidelines, and Procedures,” emphasizing the importance of collaboration between institutions and conducting trials across multiple centers. The book aims to serve as a guide for healthcare professionals and institutions.
Dr Jitendra Singh urged students to work towards realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed nation by 2047. The emphasis on aligning efforts with the larger national goals reinforces the government’s commitment to holistic development and progress in the healthcare sector.
