Highlights of the 2022 Champions League Final: Vinicius Jr scored in the second half as Real Madrid beat Liverpool to host their 14th European Cup at the Stade de France in Paris. The Spanish giants have won their fifth Champions League trophy in nine seasons. The Brazilian midfielder hit the post in the 59th minute with Federico Valverde scoring in the face, giving Madrid a 1-0 lead at the conference.
The Spanish giants now have twice the number of European cups as number 2 on the list, AC Milan. Liverpool sit 6th. Earlier, the game was 0-0 at half-time Liverpool hit the post and were happy to catch the ball in the first 45 minutes. There was a 36-minute delay before the start of the match as police tried to stop people trying to force their way into the stadium.
While both teams started with caution, Sadio Mane came very close in the 21st minute with a short shot that Madrid goalkeeper Courtois had managed to reach the post. Liverpool continued their hotly contested game with Mohamed Salah testing the Spanish goalkeeper twice in a bid to take the lead. Madrid almost scored before the break, but Karim Benzema’s effort was called offside after a long VAR review. The French striker hit home the ball in the 43rd minute.
