Royal Challengers Bangalore were knocked out of the 2022 Indian Premier League on Friday, when they faced seven wickets over the Rajasthan Royals in Ahmedabad. Jos Buttler (106 *) hit a foul when the Royals chased a goal of 158 runs with 11 balls remaining. The defeat marked RCB’s 15th consecutive season without a trophy for the IPL title, as it remains one of only three teams (the other being the Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals) among the top eight who did not lift the trophy.
The RCB has had a lot of good things this season, but their season was ruined by ViratKohli’s poor run. The former RCB captain scored only 341 runs in 16 innings for the 2022 season, and was knocked out with only 7 games in Qualifier 2, marking his last appearance of the season.
Kohli was sent off in the second over of the match by Prasidh Krishna, as he hit a short over outside to catch a wicket by Sanju Samson. Kohli played a lazy waft for his back foot but could not set a delivery time, as the edge was moved by the goalkeeper.
