Khadi Skip Profit Rs 1 lakh crore 2021-22; Beats all FMCG Companies in India

The khadi and the Village Industries Commission (KVIC) have reached a milestone that is still a far cry from all FMCG companies in India. Thanks to the constant support of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, KVIC, for the first time, made a huge profit of Rs 1.15 lakh crore, which has never been seen by any FMCG company in the country. This makes KVIC the only company in the country to record a profit of Rs 1 lakh crore.

At FY 2021-22, KVIC’s total profit stands at Rs 1,15,415.22 crore compared to Rs 95, 741.74 crore last year, i.e. 2020-21. KVIC has therefore registered 20.54% growth from 2020-21. Compared to the year 2014-15, total production in the khadi and Village Industry sectors in 2021-22 recorded a dramatic growth of 172% while total sales during this period increased by more than 248%. This huge KVIC advantage came despite the partial closure of the country in the first three months, namely April to June 2022, due to the second wave of the Covid-19 epidemic.

Looking at performance over the past one year, the biggest impact can be seen in the khadi sector which registered growth at 43.20% from Rs 3528 crore in 2020-21 to Rs 5052 crore in 2021-22. Over the past eight years, that is, from 2014-15, production in the khadisector in 2021-22 has increased by 191%, and khadisales have increased significantly by 332%.

On the other hand, profits in the Village Industries sector alone amounted to Rs 1,10,364 crores in 2021-22, compared to Rs 92,214 crore last year. Over the past eight years, production in the Village Industrial 2021-22 increased by 172%, while sales increased by 245%.

KVIC Chairman, Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena said Khadi’s remarkable growth was due to the constant support of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to promote khadi in the country. At the same time, new schemes, creative marketing ideas and active support from various services have also added to khadi growth in recent years. “The Prime Minister’s repeated calls for independence by promoting” Swadeshi “and especially” Khadi “have worked wonders. Today Khadi surpasses all FMCG companies in the country. so much that no other FMCG company can match, ā€he said.

Notably, the people responded enthusiastically to the Prime Minister’s titles “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” and “Vocal for Local”. Over the past few years, KVIC’s main focus has been on creating sustainable employment opportunities for professionals and unemployed youth. Faced with economic pressures, many young people worked for themselves and engaged in productive activities under the PMEGP that increased productivity in the rural industrial sector. At the same time, sales of khadiproducts and the village industry grew significantly following the Prime Minister’s request to buy Swadeshi products. This is evidenced by the fact that the one-day sale of the khadi at his supermarket in Connaught Place in New Delhi again reached a record high of Rs 1.29 crore on 30 October 2021.
