Renowned actor Kangana Ranaut made headlines again as she unveiled the trailer of the Telugu movie “Razakar: The Silent Genocide of Hyderabad” at an event in Mumbai on Saturday. Amidst the excitement surrounding the movie, Kangana was asked about her potential political aspirations, to which she humorously replied, referencing her upcoming film “Emergency” where she portrays former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

“I just did a film called Emergency. After watching that movie, nobody will want me as the Prime Minister,” Kangana quipped, adding a touch of humor to the discussion.

Directed and produced by Kangana herself, “Emergency” delves into the life of the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, marking Kangana’s debut as a solo director. The film boasts a star-studded cast, including Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair, and the late Satish Kaushik.

Reflecting on her journey with “Emergency,” Kangana emphasized the importance of bringing such significant historical narratives to the forefront, especially for the younger generation. She expressed gratitude towards her talented co-stars for joining her on this creative endeavor.

While Kangana has previously stated that she is not a political person, she hinted at a change of heart in November 2023, expressing her willingness to contest elections if “Lord Krishna showers blessings.”

“Emergency” was initially slated for release on November 24, 2023, but will now hit the theaters on June 14, 2024. Produced by Zee Studios and Manikarnika Films, the film promises to shed light on one of the darkest chapters in India’s history, captivating audiences with its gripping narrative.
