Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said on Saturday he was disappointed with China’s efforts to develop areas in the East China Sea, saying it was “unacceptable.”Speaking to reporters in the western city of Kyoto, he said the government had lodged a complaint against China through its communication channels.
The Japanese Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Friday confirming China’s growing efforts to develop natural resources in the East China Sea, including areas west of Japan and China.Another source of ongoing tensions between the second and third largest economies in the world is the dispute over small islands in the East China Sea, which is controlled by Japan but China also claims, as well as surrounding water.
