J-K: Encounter breaks out in Budgam

Budgam, J-K: An encounter broke out between the militants and security forces in Chrar-i-Sharief of Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, the Kashmir Zone Police tweeted.

“01 #terrorist affiliated with proscribed #terror outfit LeT killed. Incriminating materials including an AK 56 rifle recovered. Search going on. Further details shall follow,” the Kashmir Zone Police said in a tweet thread.

Earlier, on Saturday evening, an encounter started in the Naira area of Pulwama, after the area was cordoned off by the security forces based on an input of the presence of militants in the area.

Police said that the militants opened fire on the joint party of local police, CRPF and Rashtriya Rifles, when a search operation was being carried on, which led to an encounter operation. A senior police officer here said that the militants were given ample opportunity to surrender but they started firing.
