India has transformed itself into a self-reliant nation that is fully equipped to deal with all kinds of threats and challenges

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India has transformed itself into a strong, confident and self-reliant nation that is fully equipped to deal with all kinds of threats and challenges. This was stated by Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh at a function in Udaipur, Rajasthan on August 30, 2022. He said that the steps taken by the government in the last eight years have given new confidence to the armed forces. He claimed that India has never attacked any country or acquired an inch of foreign land, but if anyone tries to harm the sovereignty, unity and integrity of the nation, it will be given a befitting reply.
“It is the result of the last eight years that India is no longer weak. We made our stand on terrorism clear when our armed forces, displaying tremendous strength, carried out the surgical strikes in 2016 and the Balakot airstrikes in 2019. It was proof that India’s military prowess is not less than any other country,” said Shri Rajnath Singh. He assured the nation that the armed forces are deployed with full readiness to protect the people from anti-Indian elements.
Raksha Mantri claimed that the foundation of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ was laid under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and this strong and self-reliant ‘New India’ is walking side by side with powerful countries. He listed a number of steps taken by the Ministry of Defense to promote ‘Aatmanirbharta’ in defence, including issuing three 310-item positive indigenous lists and earmarking 68 per cent of the capital purchase budget for domestic industries in the Union Budget 2022-23. He added that foreign companies are being encouraged to manufacture in India under the vision of ‘Make in India, Make for the World’ to strengthen the domestic defense industry.
Shri Rajnath Singh pointed out that the efforts made by the Government have begun to bear fruit as India is not only meeting its own needs but also meeting the demands of other countries. He appreciated the fact that defense exports, which were worth about Rs 900 crore eight years ago, have now grown to about Rs 13,000 crore. He added that a defense export target of Rs 2.75 lakh crore by 2047 has been set, exuding confidence that India is well on its way to achieving this target.
Raksha Mantri reiterated the government’s commitment to ensure the safety of Indians residing not only in the country but also in other parts of the world. He emphasized that the safe return of Indian nationals from Ukraine, amid its ongoing situation with Russia, was a testament to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s determination to ensure the safety and security of every Indian.
Shri Rajnath Singh was in Udaipur to unveil the statue of Panna Dhai, the 16th century nurse of Udai Singh II, the fourth son of Indian ruler Sangram Singh I, popularly known as Rana Sanga. Shri Rajnath Singh paid a rousing tribute and praised the bravery of Panna Dhai who sacrificed her son to protect Udai Singh II, father of Maharan Pratap, for the sake of Mewar and the entire country. He urged people to take inspiration from Panna Dhai and play their part in Nation Building.
