Unexpected Rainfall Hits Delhi-NCR for Second Consecutive Day, IMD Predicts More Showers

Delhi and its surrounding National Capital Region (NCR) experienced unexpected rainfall accompanied by thundershowers for the second consecutive day on Thursday, adding to the challenges posed by harsh winter conditions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted more showers throughout the day.

Moderate-intensity rain with thundershowers is expected over various areas of Delhi-NCR, including Narela, Alipur, Vivek Vihar, Jafarpur, Nazafgarh, Palam, Safdarjung, Lodhi Road, and more. The downpour, which began on Wednesday morning, led to road blockages and waterlogging in some parts of the national capital, disrupting daily life. Additionally, delays in trains and flights have been reported due to the adverse weather conditions.

The unexpected rainfall is attributed to the influence of two western disturbances, according to the IMD. One patch moving across Delhi is currently causing light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds. Another patch moving from Rohtak and Jhajjar towards Delhi is expected to bring another spell of rain and thunderstorms.

Apart from Delhi, several other nearby areas are also likely to witness similar downpours on Thursday, including regions in Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan. The IMD’s bulletin indicates thunderstorms with moderate-intensity rain in various cities and towns, emphasizing the need for residents to remain cautious and prepared for the inclement weather.

As the unexpected rainfall persists, residents are urged to stay updated on weather advisories and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety and well-being.
