The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Yellow alert for Friday, casting a cautious eye over Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Dhule, Jalgaon, and Nashik districts in Maharashtra. This alert signifies the possibility of heavy rainfall and serves as a reminder for residents and authorities to be prepared.
In a recent announcement, the IMD warned of heavy downpours over Western Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat in the coming three days. The weather forecast anticipates light to moderate rainfall coupled with moderate to severe thunderstorms in various parts of India, encompassing northern Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh.
Satellite imagery has detected moderate to intense convective clouds, heralding the likelihood of light to moderate rainfall, interspersed with occasional intense spells, thunderstorms, and lightning across several regions. These include Northwest Uttar Pradesh, East Uttar Pradesh, South Bihar, North Maharashtra, Gujarat Region, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, particularly during the nighttime.
Mumbai has already experienced substantial rainfall since Thursday morning, with the promise of more precipitation during the night. The IMD reported rainfall figures for various areas in the city, emphasizing the need for residents to stay informed and prepared for potential weather-related challenges.
Furthermore, the weather office’s predictions encompassed light to moderate rainfall in other parts of India, including Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Sikkim, Ladakh, Arunachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Telangana.
