Heavy Rainfall in Himachal Pradesh Blocks Roads and Causes Damage

Heavy rainfall has once again intensified in Himachal Pradesh, causing road blockages in several districts. After almost three months since the monsoon initially hit the state, the heavy downpours have led to the closure of twenty-four roads across five districts. According to data from the State Disaster Management Authority, the blocked roads include 16 in Lahaul-Spiti, 4 in Shimla, 2 in Kullu, and 1 each in Kangra and Kinnaur districts.

The continuous monsoon fury in Himachal Pradesh has taken a toll on the state. Data from State Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi indicates that since the onset of the monsoon, the state has witnessed significant damage. The figures include 468 reported fatalities, 487 injuries, and 40 individuals still missing. Additionally, 2,647 houses have been completely damaged, 1,129 houses partially damaged, along with 320 shops and 5,977 cowsheds suffering damage due to the severe weather conditions.
