Indian authorities seized 90 kilograms (198 lbs) of drugs worth $ 58 million from the western port of Gujarat province, police said on Saturday, the third time in two weeks. “Pipavav port at a time when India tightened security on its western border to prevent drug trafficking from Iran and Afghanistan.” said the state police chief.
The heroin mixed with the strings would have to be released, the coalition government said in a statement. This week, police seized 56 kg (123 lb) of heroin worth $ 37 million and arrested nine Pakistani nationals in a maritime operation. Authorities also seized 205.6 kg (453 lb) of heroin, valued at $ 188 million, from the Gujarat port in Kandla this month. India has accused its neighbor and its main rival Pakistan of inciting drug trafficking to cross the border, a case Pakistan has denied.
