The annual entertainment awards Golden Globes 2022 were not announced on television, but via Twitter and press releases as the broadcaster NBC decided not to air this year’s awards.
At the Globes, Steven Spielberg’s remake of “West Side Story” was named best musical or comedy film award. The movie portrays the story of young love set among rival street gangs. Lead actress Rachel Zegler won the award for best actress while supporting star Ariana DeBose took home the award for best actress in a supporting role.
“The Power of the Dog” by Netflix won three awards, including the best director for Jane Campion. Will Smith won the award for best actor in a drama film for his role in “King Richard” portraying as the father of tennis stars Serena and Venus Williams. Meanwhile, Nicole Kidman won the award for best drama actress for her role as Lucille Ball in “Being The Ricardos”.
Andrew Garfield won the best actor award for his role as playwright Jonathan Larson in the musical Tick, Tick…Boom.
In the television category, the corporate family series “Succession” received the best drama award, while “Hacks” was crowned best comedy.
