Minister of Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and Textiles Shri Piyush Goyal said that Prime Minister’s National Master Plan GatiShakti has the potential to save more than Rs. 10 lakh crore annually by improving logistics efficiency. He was addressing a national workshop on PM GatiShakti held on the occasion of the first anniversary of the introduction of the National Master Plan in New Delhi today. The workshop focused on the progress and achievements of PM GatiShakti so far and the way forward.
Shri Goyal said that PM GatiShakti is increasingly being used in the social sector for better infrastructure development, bringing the fruits of technology to every citizen of the country and making life easier for the common man. The Minister said that Prime Minister GatiShakti will determine the future of India in the coming years. Quoting Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, he said that Prime Minister’s National Master Plan GatiShakti will provide both ‘Gati’ and ‘Shakti’ to India’s infrastructure development efforts.
The National Master Plan will change the way we work and the results of our work and will drive economic development, said Shri Goyal. He observed that the entire nation came together and crossed political differences to utilize the Prime Minister’s GatiShakti to the best possible extent. The minister expressed confidence that Prime Minister GatiShakti NMP will find a place in history as a powerful intervention that spurred rapid growth and development in the country. Shri Goyal felt that the anniversary celebrations must be used as an opportunity to visualize and formulate plans for the future. He asked all stakeholders to envision ways to use PM GatiShakti for better, more economical and time-bound infrastructure planning. The minister expressed confidence that Prime Minister GatiShakti will help achieve balanced, inclusive and equitable development in the country by helping remote areas, especially those in the North East, in planning for integrated infrastructure and removing development gaps.
Referring to the Prime Minister’s Development Initiative for North Eastern Region (PM-DevINE) scheme launched yesterday, the Minister said that the involvement of PM GatiShakti in the scheme will help in utilizing resources much more effectively. Shri Goyal said that the entire Government is working in tandem to ensure the best utilization of the Prime Minister’s GatiShakti. He added that industry, commerce and the social sector welcomed Prime Minister Gati with open arms.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched Prime Minister GatiShakti on 13.10.21 for integrated infrastructure planning and synchronized implementation of projects across all concerned Central Ministries, Ministries and State Governments. PM GatiShakti is a transformative approach for integrated and holistic planning across relevant Ministries/Departments to improve multi-modal connectivity and logistics efficiency and address critical gaps for seamless movement of people and goods, with a focus on minimizing disruptions and ensuring timely completion of works. .

It may be noted that in the last 8 years, capital expenditure has seen a more than four-fold increase from 1.75 lakh crore in 2014 to 7.5 lakh crore in 2022. LEADS 2022 received over 6,500 responses from over 2,100 respondents across the country. Unlike previous versions of LEADS, which were based on ranking systems for all states, LEADS 2022 adopted a classification-based classification, states were now classified into four categories: Coastal States, Inland/Land States, Northeast States, and Union.
