Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and Textiles Shri Piyush Goyal said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in his speech yesterday articulated the creation of a developed nation and clearly called upon Jai Anusandhaan as one of the important pillars to become a developed India. Referring to the Prime Minister’s call on Jai Anusandhaan, Shri Goyal said, “What better way than to launch the Public Systems Lab on the first day of entering Amrit Kaal”. He was speaking at the inauguration of the Public Systems Lab at IIT Delhi.
The Minister said: “The Public Systems Laboratory can play a vital role in a number of ways. Public procurement and food distribution are key programs where this innovation can make a huge contribution.” “The Public Systems Laboratory is a perfect example of innovation that will contribute to the development of our nation and rid the country of corruption by streamlining the public distribution system”.Talking about the government’s efforts to innovate and use innovative solutions in making the public supply system more effective and efficient, Shri Goyal said, “Through government initiatives like PMGKAY, India is a role model for the world in addressing food security in the post-pandemic era. Despite the massive pandemic, the government has ensured food security for all through One Nation One Ration Card.
Commending IIT Delhi and the World Food Program for setting up the Public Systems Lab, Shri Goyal said that the research work being done will show the world how India is using technology and innovation to make the public supply system more effective and efficient. Urging the youth to contribute towards creating a developed and prosperous India, Shri Goyal said, “Today, India is being talked about in the world as an emerging superpower, as a nation of startups, a nation of innovators, a nation that is ahead of its sustainable development goals. . This is possible when young people come up with innovative ideas that contribute to the development of India”.
The launch of the Public Systems lab (PSL) will significantly impact citizens and bring significant benefits to academia and other stakeholders. The lab will use knowledge of operations research, AI, data science, etc. to solve critical problems that are vital to improving the lives of millions of people. It will work in the areas of food, health, transport and good governance. The current focus is the optimization of food chains and public transport.
