Ministry of Education invited Public through an online public consultation survey to formulate the National Curriculum Framework

Union Minister for Education and Skill Development Shri Dharmendra Pradhan has called upon the citizens to participate in a citizen survey for the National Curriculum Framework to develop a new curriculum. A dynamic national curriculum framework in line with NEP 2020 will play a major role in achieving the goal of Viksit Bharat, he added. He further said that the development of a vibrant, dynamic, inclusive and futuristic national education framework is necessary to integrate cultural rootedness along with a global outlook, free education from the colonial hangover and instill a deeper sense of pride in our next generations.

The Ministry of Education invited the public through an online public consultation survey to formulate the National Curriculum Framework and subsequently to draft the syllabus, textbooks and other teaching materials. On 29 July 2020, the Government of India announced the National Education Policy (NEP), 2020, which recommends improving the quality of the education system through the creation of a National Curriculum Framework (NCF). The National Curriculum Framework process was initiated by the establishment of District Consultative Committees, State Focus Groups and State Steering Committee, National Focus Groups and National Steering Committee, etc.

A technology platform has been developed – websites and mobile applications to carry out work in a large and paperless manner. States and UTs have conducted district level consultations, mobile app based surveys, state level consultations through state focus groups and state steering committee using a bottom up approach to reach stakeholders like parents, Anganwadi workers, teachers, teachers. educators, students etc. at grassroots level and gather their views and opinions on the future of school education, early childhood care and education, teacher education and adult education.

Providing an opportunity to all stakeholders

At the national level, National Focus Groups and National Steering Committee were also engaged in discussing various issues and problems, including interaction with various Ministries, Autonomous Bodies, NGOs, Businesses, Philanthropic Agencies, etc. to collect and collate valuable inputs for the formulation of the NCF. A mandate document for NCF formulation was developed to guide stakeholders in the process.

Given the diversity in the country, providing an opportunity to all stakeholders who may or may not necessarily be a parent or a teacher or a student and want to participate in the transformation of the education system in India, through sharing views on common concerns related to education, is the need of the hour. Such varied and diverse perspectives are likely to provide a practical blueprint for the smooth implementation of the NEP 2020 vision. All stakeholders including teachers, principals/principals, school principals, educators, parents, students, community members, NGOs, professionals, members of the public, artists, artisans, farmers and anyone interested in school education and teacher education are invited to participate in this online survey is conducted in 23 languages, including those listed in Schedule VIII of our Constitution.
