Actor Dhanush and filmmaker Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth have filed for divorce over two years after announcing their separation, as reported by India Today. The duo recently submitted their petition for divorce at the Chennai family court, seeking legal separation under Section 13 B, which pertains to divorce by mutual consent. Their case is expected to be heard soon, marking a significant development in their personal lives.
The news of their separation initially left fans disheartened when they made the announcement in 2022. Dhanush took to social media to share their decision, expressing gratitude for the 18 years they spent together as friends, a couple, and parents. In a note shared on X (formerly Twitter), he reflected on their journey of growth, understanding, and adaptation before revealing their decision to part ways as a couple. Aishwaryaa echoed his sentiments on Instagram, emphasizing the need for understanding and love during this transition.
Dhanush and Aishwaryaa, who exchanged vows in 2004, are parents to two sons, Yatra and Linga. Despite their separation, they have continued to co-parent their children, often attending their school events together.
Following their separation, Aishwaryaa made a directorial comeback with the film “Lal Salaam,” featuring her father, veteran actor Rajinikanth, in an extended cameo role. Meanwhile, Dhanush has been actively involved in his acting career, with his latest project being “Captain Miller,” which premiered on Prime Video. He is also set to portray the role of music maestro Ilaiyaraaja in an upcoming biopic directed by Arun Matheswaran.
